My name is Cristina Gherghel, and I am an aphantasic, anauralic, and anendophasic researcher and writer.
I write because there are things I have spent decades observing that do not fit into the language already available. Writing gives me a way to put those things into words, examine them closely, and follow them where they lead. I am focused on realities that sit outside traditional psychological and neurological descriptions.
My work has grown out of five decades of observing human behavior and wasting my life with people affected by comorbid personality disorders and other complex psychiatric conditions.
Somewhere along the way, my interest settled firmly on neurodevelopmental psychology, and, more specifically, on the relationship between psyche, mind, brain, neurochemistry, and neuroscience.
I am fascinated by what happens when those systems meet real life: how they shape perception, thought, emotion, relationships, and behavior.
I am not a Popperian in scope, but I am one in method.
When I started researching, it was to find answers, not gaps—or to become adversarial to models in science.
Existing literature could not explain the (un)human behavior I had dealt with or why my mind worked the way it did, so I had to become an autodidact scholar.
A great deal of what I have spent years trying to understand comes down to one question: what can we know about something if the terminology is absent?
I think of this as a Schrödingerian state of knowing through absence. You cannot point to the experience, yet its consequences are there, and they can be observed.
That question has taken me into areas where I have found the existing language inadequate, particularly in discussions of abuse, trauma, and psychological experience. Rather than forcing what I observed into categories that did not fit, I started developing concepts of my own. The ideas in my books and research papers have born from that process and from decades of empirical observation.
I am the author of From Narcissism to Histrionics: Neurodivergent Insights in Cluster B & The Comorbid Spectrum of Dark Personality Disorders, along with other similar books.
You can find the complete list in this post, if you like (click to follow).
My work looks at the intersections between neurodivergence, ontological abuse, and the socio-cultural structures imposed upon existence.
Some of the language I use does not exist in the established literature so I created it. Asensoria and panthropic abuse are two examples, among others.
I coined these terms out of necessity. They are theoretical taxonomies that come from my cognitive template and phenomenology. I use them to describe things that remain marginal, misunderstood, or largely unacknowledged in mainstream science of the mind.
The Reality I Document
My neurological and existential profile is highly atypical—aneurotypical I say, as the counter part of neurotypical.
Several things that are generally treated as ordinary components of experience are simply absent for me. I call the broader profile The Aneurothymia Spectrum.
It includes:
- Panmodal Aphantasia – I have no mental imagery in any sensory modality. I cannot see images in my mind, but the absence goes beyond vision: there is no internally generated sound, taste, touch, smell, or other sensory representation either. I discovered I had aphantasia at forty, in Exeter, UK, at about the time researchers defined the term. I was trying to “visualize” my future as a writer and discovered that I could not. What followed was one of the most catastrophic realizations of my life: other people can apparently see, hear, and feel things internally. Something that is completely ordinary to many sounds extraterrestrial to me, almost like a supernatural ability.
- Anendophasia – My mind's mouth is mute. No inner monologues, no dialogue between competing thoughts, no self-talk.
- Anauralia – Lack of auditory imagery. My mind's ear is deaf. I didn't coin this, it already exists since 2021.
- Asensoria – I can understand and describe all emotional states without being able to generate some of the corresponding felt state within myself. I do not experience pride or satisfaction, and I do not experience the felt reality of being loved by others. That brings interoception into the picture, but also affective representation, social cognition, reward processing, and self-referential valuation
- Anhedonia – I do not experience pleasure in the way it is described by other people. Music, touch, and social rewards do not produce that sense of excitement or gratification. I do not regard this as trauma-induced, a symptom of major depression. I haven't lost the anhedonic reward, I never had it. It is structural.
- Asexuality – I do not experience sexual attraction. I never have. Same as above.
- Asociality – People drain my energy.
These are not benign variations that can be corrected. They form a distinct neurological profile with serious functional consequences.
What complicates their expression in my life is panthropic abuse, which I use to describe a diffuse form of ontological invisibility. My work examines the relationship between that social experience and an already atypical neurological profile, without reducing the account to a narrative of survival or redemption.
What I Offer
My work is also an attempt to build a topology for invisible neurodivergence and trauma: a vocabulary that can describe what is actually lived by people in day-to-day life, not in laboratories.
I write about:
- The established systems and assumptions operating within psychology, psychiatry, medicine, and motivational discourse.
- Human behavior, relational trauma, and the social systems through which people are controlled, interpreted, and defined.
- Women’s health, including my experience with endometriosis and vestibulitis.
- Complex realities that cannot be adequately expressed through jargon, cliché, or a convenient diagnosis.
Lived Experience of Other Invisible Conditions
What I offer is not abstract. It is embodied, researched, and survived:
Misophonia – Acute anxiety triggered by sounds like nail-biting, gulping, jazz, or “therapeutic” tones (e.g., handpan, binaural frequencies, isochronic beats)Multiple Phobias – Especially medical and driving phobias, both severely impairing autonomy and daily life
Panic Attacks – Episodes of somatic and existential terror that dominated 30 years of my life
Social Anxiety – Paralytic fear of social interaction
C-PTSD – Complex trauma rooted in prolonged abuse, chronic invalidation, and systemic neglect
Endometriosis & Vestibulodynia – Painful—underdiagnosed for decades—gynecological conditions with devastating psychological and relational consequences
Etc., etc., etc.
Why I Write
Because when I searched for language, I found none.
I scoured cognitive science psychiatry, psychology, philosophy, spirituality or metaphysics for over twenty years. Nothing mirrored my experience. No framework accounted for the contradiction of being both hyper-visible and fundamentally unseen.
Is this your story too?
Only Kafka offered partial resonance — The Metamorphosis, The Trial. Then Schrödinger’s paradox gave me a model: living as both presence and absence. Being both observed and invisible.
So I write to build what didn’t exist — a conceptual and emotional system that names what has been ignored, silenced or distorted.
I write because:
- Motivational culture retraumatized me with spiritual bypassing and false promises
- Medicine dismissed me to psychiatry
- Psychiatry reduced me to “hysteria,” “hypochondria,” and “impossible diagnosis”
- Wellness narratives gaslit me with savior metaphors, surrender doctrines, and toxic positivity
I write to give form to the ineffable. My work is not a reaction to suffering. It is a deliberate construction of ontological understanding — a scaffold for those navigating complex, non-binary intersections of identity, neurodivergence, trauma, and systemic abuse.
My Published Books
Books in English — available here:
https://www.amazon.com/author/cristinagherghel
— reject euphemism, simplification, and intellectual seduction. They examine:
- Complex trauma (C-PTSD)
- Emotional, psychological, narcissistic, and panthropic abuse
- Systems of control: politics, spirituality, psychiatry, and motivational psychology
- Women’s bodies, hormones, reproduction, and menopause
- Invisible neurodivergence and systemic invalidation
- Intergenerational trauma
- Personality and mood disorders (Cluster A, B, C; bipolarity; depression)
- Normalized abuse and systemic deception
- The possibility of reconstruction — without platitudes, saviors, or marketing
I also publish memoirs, novellas, short fiction, and poetry — without pretense, but with clarity and conviction.
I write for those who do not resonate with forced optimism, guided meditations, or the seductive illusions of manifestation culture. I write for those who want the truth — unmarketed, unpolished, and fully human.

They are not designed for passive consumption.
They are invitations to confront, question, and challenge what orthodox psychology and cultural discourse never named.
